Vitamin D: Bowie, BBQ, Bars and Belle Isle

Take me to your leader (Photo: screenshot)

Welcome to wknd #31 of 52. Let’s celebrate! Here’s how:

1) BOWIE:  Watch The Man Who Fell To Earth At The Detroit Film Theatre – Fri, Sat, Sun
Transport yourself back to 1976 with this celluloid classic. Maybe you really like art house films, maybe you want to impress a date – either way, Bowie’s big screen debut is a don’t miss.

2) BBQ: The Ribs And Soul Festival At Hart Plaza – All weekend
Brace yourself for the sheer amount of roasted and smoked meats you’ll consume over the next few days. After eating yourself silly, or while eating yourself silly, find a seat in front of the main stage and listen to the sweet sounds of soul. Don’t forget to wear your eating pants and to bring a few wet naps.

3) BARS: Downtown Detroit Patio Bar Tour - Saturday at 7 p.m.
Free shots shots shots shots shots shots shots shots. Act fast though, this tour might sell out. If it does, just shoot Inside Detroit an email to get on the waitlist.

4) BELLE ISLE: Figment Art Forum – Saturday, all day
Pack a picnic, chill on the grass and collaborate. The art forum encourages all three things, as well as participation and interactivity. Plus it’s free.

22 Detroit neighborhood soccer teams will match up vying for the COPA Detroit, games start at 10am. The championship final match is at 5pm.

Also numerous Detroit DJs will be playing all day long.
And the only legit food truck, El Guapo Grill will be serving.
